5 MGS Sessions You Can’t Miss

Catch up with the hottest trends in mobile marketing with these five videos from MGS’ 2019 events.

2019 was a banner year for MGS. We introduced new events, grew our established conferences, and made big strides toward becoming a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about mobile marketing. As we look toward 2020 we can’t help but reflect on some of the best sessions from our recent events.

Mobile marketing experts tackled a lot of tough issues this year — and you can see more from them on our YouTube channel — but this curated list brings to light some of the most impactful discussions had, controversial statements made, and game-changing knowledge shared at this year’s MGS events.

Are organic installs a myth? Is retention overtaking user acquisition as the most important marketing metric? Get answers to these questions and more with these highlights from MGS Europe, MGS Canada, and our flagship MGS event in San Francisco

1. There Is No Such Thing As Organic Installs

Have you been chasing organic installs? The truth is — according to StoreMaven Co-Founder & CRO Adam Rakib and WB Games VP Mobile Publishing & Analytics Kimberly Corbett — so-called “organic” app downloads are namely the result of unattributed marketing activities. Learn more about how you might be misattributing the source of your downloads with this talk from MGS 19 in San Francisco.

2. Why the Asian Live-Streaming Model is Poised to Take Over Europe

MGS hosts events across the globe, and this year we introduced MGS Asia in Jakarta. So we love to see our worlds (or events, as the case may be) collide. Geoff Cook, CEO, The Meet Group took to the stage in Berlin to tell us why the Asian live-streaming model (think TikTok) is coming to Europe and how to get ready.

3. Product is the New Growth Hack

Did we already mention that we love it when our worlds collide? Well, at MGS Canada 19 a panel of experts came together to talk about the importance of product in your marketing — months before the first-ever MGS Product Jam. Check out this discussion with Ngozi Ogbonna, Sr. Director of UA, Fairygodboss, Belinda Alzner, Sr. Product Manager, The Score,  Nataliya Becker, Sr. Product Manager, League, Tanzina Alam, Sr. Product Manager, Sage.

4. The Programmatic Audio Evolution

We took MGS Europe 19 to Berlin and were joined by a large and enthusiastic audience. Brian Gilbert, Sr. Director Platform & Programmatic Ops, Pandora, gave the keynote address and helped guide mobile marketers through the complex world of programmatic advertising for audio.

5. New Approach to Growth: Engagement, Retention

Still putting user acquisition at the forefront of your marketing strategy? Well, that strategy may be old news. Savvy marketers are realizing the best use of their ad budgets is to engage and retain the users they already have. Mobile author, analyst and panel moderator Peggy Anne Salz brought together Sunil Thomas, Co-Founder & CEO, CleverTap, Aitor Abonjo, Global Retention Team Lead, Glovo, and  Catherine Bostian, Sr. CRM Manager, Delivery Hero, to talk explore this new strategy on stage in Berlin. (Learn even more about holding onto your users with this video from MGS 19.)
